SCA Membership Survey
Greetings,

At the January 2003 meeting of the SCA's Board of Directors,
Frederick Hollander (Duke Frederick of Holland) presented the Board
with a proposal* suggesting an alternate membership and funding
structure for the SCA. Though the Board had various concerns about
this proposal, and is not currently considering implementing this
specific proposal, his efforts do demonstrate that there may be
other options available for the way the business side of the
organization operates. The Directors believe these options are worth
investigating and are requesting feedback from the membership
regarding the basic issues raised in this proposal.

The first portion of this survey includes questions on these basic
ideas, as well as on a variety of other membership-related issues.
Please be sure to use the comments sections whenever necessary. The
Directors are seeking information on your opinions, and while the
basic answers provide statistical information on preferences, the
comments will help us tailor any future actions more closely.

The second section of the survey consists of basic demographic
questions. The data in this section, which will be compiled
anonymously, will allow for the creation of a better picture of the
membership and active participants of the SCA. This information will
assist the Corporation in responding to membership issues, and
provide background information to be utilized in seeking possible
alternate funding sources for publications and corporate operating
costs. Your cooperation in answering this section is very important
to the organization's future development.

Your participation is vital! There are over 25,000 members of the
SCA, yet the Board of Directors typically receives responses from no
more than 1-2% of the membership. If you care how your corporation
is run, please send in your comments.
