For those interested in participating for the A&S war point at Estrella for dance, would you like to have live musicians? The idea had been bantied about, and I think now is a good time to start the planning. We have many fine musicians in Artemisia that also attend Estrella. Please contact me if you are interested, or let me know if someone else is already coordinating this.

Elsidh

Currently teaching -- Old Measures, ECD, Bransles,
15th Century Italian and a little 16th Century, and a
little early/improvised dance.

Researching (but being on the road has prevented me
from getting much past the starting gate) --
Improvised dances (salterello, piva, and galliard),
Improvisation in choreographed dances (Italian and
French), and performance oddities like the Buffens.
(I have dreams of an Artemisian Buffens team for the
war point. Anybody up for a dance for four men armed
with sword and buckler?)

To my knowledge, there are no current dance guilds in
Artemisia. (The last real talk about forming one was
lead by *Lord* Thorgrim. That long ago...)

I confess to a bit of a long-standing anti-guild bias.
My experience with formal guilds has seen them spend
more time on guild business than the activity they're
supposed to promote.

But...I'm not immune. Recently I had a wild hair
about a period gaming guild, and I had a very detailed
structure all written up, until a dear friend from Arn
Hold said, "Why don't you just start a Yahoo Group?"
I took her advice, and that seems to have been just
the right amount of formal guild structure.

Short answer -- yes! My particular axe to grind at
this moment is to find someone more athletic than I
(i.e., virtually everbody :D) to pursue the more
interesting galliard variants. And on my dream list,
four such someones for a Buffens team...
