Updates on Activities at Best Little Army

So far, the weather looks good. On my last visit to the site, I have
found it a bit breezy; and I learned from the locals that mosquitoes are
at a minimus so far this year. This is a fruit-growing valley. If you
have allergies, please remember your medicine. The campsite will be in a
freshly mowed sparse (read as patches of) alfalfa/grass field. The local
Motel and B&B are booked for Saturday night.

Smalls:
Lord Terrance has activities planned for your children. However, he is
not a good baby sitter. So to prevent them from ending up (perhaps) in
the earthen oven good widow Ruth is building, I advise you to assist Lord
Terrance by keeping and eye your chillins and maybe even volunteering to
help. I understand there will be boffers and stick ponies for their
pleasure.

Universitatis Classes:
To track your progress towards a degree, remember to sign the attendance
sheets. Also, teachers please provide your handouts to Lady Eilidh.
Making a hood with or without a liripipi with Lady Susanna
Developing a Persona with Maitresse Tanglwyst
Period Dancing with Maitresse Tanglwyst
Experiments in an Earthen Oven with hlaefdigge Ruth the Widow
Period table gaming with Meister Tor and Dame Rachel
Hounds in Period with Lady Noelle
Lure Coursing with Lady Aine
Hawking and Falconry with Angela

A&S competition:
A mini competition will be held on Saturday with judging to take place in
the afternoon. There will be two categories: Alchemy (lotions, potions,
medicines, etc., suitable for man or beast, especially in a military
setting) and Camp Cooking. No documentation is required. The guidelines
for entry are to display your work and make a verbal presentation, which
may include pictures and/or reference books to show how your result was
achieved.

Tournaments:
Outside of the Best Little Army Tournament, archers will target shoot,
clout shoot and use the lure course for moving target. Equestrians will
vie for the title of Baronial Champion... a tourney open to all
equestrians... try a mounted combat behourd style and experiment with
foam tip jousting. Fencers will duel about in a Round Robin (3 forms);
and Hardsuit fighters will be featured under HRH Reinmar’s magnificent
Ka-night lites for a torch light fundraising tournament.

Best Little Army Encampment:
A large courtyard surrounded by period pavilions and plenty of torchlight
will be the center for activities such as classes, bardic circle,
dancing, gambling (coins available) and fighting.... (torchlight
tournament). Households are welcome to camp together and make themselves
known. Definite mundane tents will be placed on the outskirts of the
courtyard. Please use period like containers for your beverages and
shades for your Coleman lanterns, etc. Those with RVs may camp in Tinker
Town, which will be close by, but on the outskirts as well. Campfire
braziers are very welcome as are plenty of tiki torches... remember to
bring along a fire extinguisher too. Cigarette smokers please be
courteous to your non-smoking cousins and enjoy your smoke breaks away
from gathered folk. Pets are to be kept on their leashes unless slipped
to the lure or turned out into the exercise pen... pick up after them.
Showers are available on site; however, they are not plenty in numbers.
