Daw Gone it Sir Conrad, these questions are too good to respond to only
privately.

:-What are you doing for households that don't get everyone preregistered?

When I ask Land Deputies common area spaces in the second pass in May I
will also ask them how many more people they expect who have not already
pre-registered (those sending MO and pushing the pre-reg cut off date of May
20, and those who will just be paying at gate.) and how much space those
people will need. However, the choice of placement, and other preferences
will be made upon received Pre-registrations, and early logged volunteers.
I want to be fair as possible, and know all the Land Deputies will get all
the support from their groups so the final layout is accurate as possible.

:-Are they only getting the land they preregister for and
:-making their non-prereg's camp elsewhere?

I think I covered this above, no. I will also add space between camps as
buffer zones, just in case the Land Deputy misses a few.

:-What is my incentive to preregister rather than show up early and
:-lay claim to 'free land' I may feel I need instead of prereg land?

Most of the land, especially the preferred spaces will be allocated in the
land distribution by pre-registering, those areas being marked as overflow
will therefore be based on a guess of people not camping with groups, or
such (say 15% of overall pre-registered land reserved set aside as Overflow
Group). In addition there is a Portico competition this year for groups, so
knowing in advance I think aids a group in making their entrance way.
Finally I think the best reason is still that since you know your going
anyway, Pre-Registering helps out those people (Land Deputies, and Land
Steward) laying things out. (Also soon as this is all done, I will be
making a few maps to be posted around the site, so it will be easier for
your friends to find you.)
Eventually we will find a larger site, then we can go back to land-grabs
as primary land distribution, but big sites seem to be hard to find (I am
still looking!).

:-Is there really a space problem?

Yes and no. I know sounds like a BS answer, but here it is the short
truth. Based upon the numbers from last year (and due to the weather,
attendance was down), and the space used, combined with the changes planned
this year (better road width marked out, higher attendance.) yield the
simple answer that if this was done as a land grab, space would vanish far
too quickly. By doing Land Allocation we can limit the court-yards, and
common areas (and wasted space between tents); to something reasonable, and
can position groups for the best fit, while accommodating special wants.
All of this work ensures I can make things fit, and if courtyards need
reduced in size, then we can address it now (actually I have already told
two people their original thoughts of courtyards are insane.) This of
course means those in overflow may be rather cramped, or may have lots of
elbow room, but those with assigned groups will know in advance where and
how much space they will have.

If there are any other questions or concerns, please ask. My goal is to
make this the best Uprising ever, and thanks to all the work of those around
me, and our wonderful Autocrat Wilhelm, We expect to exceed in spades!
