Morg,
This change does not affect Target Archery, only the "combat" related stuff. The policy, as I understand the rules does not affect any activities other than combat related stuff. The Target archery rules (at this time) will not be changed. This was brought up on the Seneschals list and discussed "ad nauseum"
Only when people hit other people with stuff (ie. sticks, either swung, thrown or shot from something) does this apply.

  Okay, my first question is-
How does this affect target archery? Separation of adult and youth
shooters, which makes it even more difficult to schedule, or is it not
"combat related", or is it the exception.

The problem with all-encompassing rules: "all" is too damn big.

[Announcements] Proposed Change to Corpora - Youth Combat
The Board of Directors is currently accepting commentary on the following
proposed revision to Copora IX.A.5 (Youth Combat)Corpora IX.A.5 currently
reads in part:No person who has not attained his or her sixteenth (16th)
birthday may be authorized in armored combat or the marshaling of armored
combat. No person who has not attained his or her fourteenth (14th) birthday
may be authorized for any form of Society combat-related activity. This
section was written prior to the existence of Youth Combat programs in the
SCA, and the exisiting working appears to ban youth combat. This is not the
Boards intent, so the following change is proposed:In order to be
authorized as a combatant or marshal in adult armored combat, an individual
must have attained his or her sixteenth (16th) birthday. In order to be
authorized as a participant, combatant, or marshal in any other form of
Society combat-related activity, except Youth Combat, an individual must
  have attained his or her
fourteenth (14th) birthday.Adding the word Adult removes the potential
confusion with youth combat activities.Interested parties should provide
their commentary to the Directors by no later than October 1, 2005. Comments
may be sent to comments at sca.org<mailto:comments at sca.org> or directors at sca.org.Comments<mailto:directors at sca.org.Comments> are strongly
encouraged and can be sent to: SCA Inc.Box 360789Milpitas, CA 95036You may
