Hello Everyone!

Arn Hold's premier event, Raptor War, September 2 - 5,
2005 will include horse and hounds activities.

The official equestrian tournaments and activities
include a Horseback Archery Class on Friday Evening
taught by Mu'allemah Yaasamiin, the Quest Tourney on
Saturday, The Baronial Equestrian Championship on
Sunday, and there will be trail rides as interest and
an available marshal dictate.

There will also be hounds coursing on Sunday.

The Rules and Recommendations for bringing horses to
the site can be found at the bottom of this e-mail.

Hounds will be welcome as long as they are on a leash
or in an enclosure. Please be a responsible hound
owner and pick up after them, too.

If you plan to trailer a horse, please be familiar
with the rules. If know a non-SCA member who may be
coming, please pass these on to them. I had to turn
someone away last year because they did not have the
proper paperwork, and they had already participated in
an SCA tourney as a non-member.

If you need more inforamtion about Raptor War, please
see the Arn Hold Baronial Website at
www.barony-of-arnhold.org.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
me.

Requirements and Recommendations for
Bringing Horses to Raptor War 2005

Requirements
1. Equestrians need to check in with either the
Equestrian Marshal in
Charge or Equestrian Event Steward upon arrival. All
equestrians will
be responsible for horse care and arena duties.
2. Please provide proof of Coggins test. See the EMIC
or the Eq.
Steward before unloading your horse. Idaho horses need
the test once
every two years. Owners may leave a copy on file.
3. Bring weed free hay or alfalfa cubes.
4. There are no stables. Bring either a containment
fence, or high-ties.
5. All horse owners need to camp with their horses on
the south end of
the event site.
6. All riders need to be authorized. Riders who are
not authorized
need to inform the EMIC at check-in so arrangements
can be made to
authorize before tournaments.
7. Weapons will be inspected prior to tournaments.
8. Equestrian riders should be familiar with kingdom
rules and
regulations. A copy can be found at the kingdom
website
www.artemisia.sca.org.

1. It has been firmly established that the West Nile
virus is in
Idaho. Vaccination is strongly recommended.
2. Strangles vaccination is recommended.
3. Trails are rocky. If you plan to ride them, shoes
are recommended.
4. There are a lot of flies and mosquitoes. Spray is
recommended.

General Information
1. There is a stream on site that can be used to water
your horse. It
is not potable for human consumption.
2. Rental horses will be available on site. Please
contact Mu'allemah
Yaasamiin for information.
