This is especially true if you're using metals with higher melting points
(such as brass). One very good suggestion I had made to me was after
finishing the mold, bake it at 300 degrees or so for an hour or more. This
will help drive off a lot of the moisture that would get excited by pouring
metal into the mold. I've always found that heating my molds prior to
pouring gets me a better cast anyway.
