NOTE-THIS IS *NOT* THE EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT
That will be forthcoming

The site will be familiar to those who travel to Stan Wyrm, the Montana
ExpoPark Family Living Center, most recently seen in our Yule Revel/Toys for
Tots event, also the site used for Their Highnesses Crown Tourney during
Their first reign. One of the nice features of this site is we have a BIG
park with it, large enough for a 130 yard archery range, SOOOOOOO

For those of you who have siege engines and no chance to display their
prowess, here's your chance. Same for hand-made bows, crossbows, etc.

If anyone has any questions regarding the site and it's particulars, please
feel free to contact me privately.

Subject: [Artemisia] Artemisian Prize

Sean and Caryn, Royal Heirs to the Gryphon thrones send warmest greetings
unto to people of Artemisia.

We are pleased to have received great council from the peers of our Kingdom
regarding the future of the Arts and Sciences in Artemisia. As such, we
have made a decision to forego the traditional competition format for the
upcoming Arts and Sciences event to be held in May.

On May 7th, A.S. XL, the Shire of Stan Wyrm will host Artemisian Prize.
This will be a grand display of the artistic talents in Artemisia.

The current Artemisian Arts and Sciences Champion, Maistreas Caointairn
Comhthaistealai, has agreed to hold the title until another Champion is
selected. She shall retain the title and the regalia, and will fulfill any
promises she may have made at her elevation.

The Display is open to all citizens and guests of Artemisia. Bring your
current projects. Bring the works you have already entered in competition.
Bring older pieces to contrast with your new ones, so we can see how you've
grown as an artist. Be as creative with your displays as you are with your
work.

Let others benefit from your past work and expertise. If you have given all
your scrolls or other works away, or if your work can't be displayed well
indoors, bring your photo albums. Please provide a card or other label with
your name, your home group, and any other information about yourself that
you want everyone to know, to place with your display. Any and all work that

is appropriate in an SCA context is welcome. Space will be provided for the
performing arts.

Documentation is encouraged, but not required. Remember, documentation can
also be displayed! This would be a good time to get suggestions on
documentation for use in future competitions.

As the Display is not a competition, it will not influence the entry of any
displayed items in future competitions.

Prizes will be offered for the Display. Some already being planned are the
King's Choice, Queen's Choice, Populace Choice, Champion's Choice. Anyone
who wants to sponsor a prize is encouraged to do so (prizes should also be
appropriate to the SCA context.) If you do sponsor a prize, please announce
it ahead of time so that people may strive for it. Prizes will be awarded at

evening court.

Please bear in mind that, as things stand now, this event is a one-time
occurrence. Our successors and future Arts and Sciences Ministers will
decide the formats of future arts events. Our goal is to create discussion
and to gather alternatives that can be used to foster the growth of the Arts

and Sciences in this Kingdom and to help her people to increase their own
knowledge and skill as well as the general body of knowledge.

To that end, we will hold an open-forum discussion of alternatives to
Competition, as well as suggestions for Arts events in general, at this
event. Everyone is encouraged to participate. If you can't attend the event,

please discuss your ideas on the Aerie or send them to us directly. We are
open to all suggestions. Yours may be the one that works best for everyone.

Yours in service,
Sean et Caryn
