[Artemisia] question about circlets god help me

The reletively short and benign answer is that it is deeply engrained in the history of the Kingdom. Prior to becoming it's own Kingdom, it was a Principality of Atenvelt. Atenvelts strongly held tradition is that (paraphrasing here) 'metal on the head is reserved for royalty' (small 'r' to deliniate difference between seated Royalty and lesser or past royalty, not as a sign of disrespect, lesser as in Court Barony, which is lower in the Order of Precidence). When Artemisia became it's own Kingdom, the premier King and Queen, with strong ties to Atenvelt having sat the Aten thrones many times, saw fit to copy over the Kingdom Customs, verbatim, as was Their right.

The reason this remains a 'sore subject' it that Artemisia has a populace which was and remains divided on the subject. Personally, I believe that this is one time that division is good, it encourages an exchange of ideas and that is never a bad thing. Frankly, I am very proud of everyone thus far involved in this thread, because, for the first time in many years, information and opinions are being shared with no hard feelings or flame wars. Very Cool, folks!

Love y'all much and back to studies,
Isabeau
Oh, and BTW, for those of you keeping track of me, the pressure is off! My schedule has changed and I am NOT taking 2 years of Physics in a single summer! *happy dance* *happy dance* The school gods have seen fit to arrange a more sedate schedule for me. A summer off! Well, not really, I still have to cut my unit hours for next year, so I still have to take two required classes, but it's non-major Photography and non-major Wheelthrown Pottery! Yes, that's right, you have to take two Art classes to get a degree in GeoPhysics. I am a freelance photographer already and the lovely and amazing Dubessa got me involved in the beginning for wheelthrown pottery, so it's going to be like play, AND the best news, it's only May and June, not July and August, too! Yipee!!!!!!!!

M'Lords and M'Ladies,

Hmmm... Without stepping in it too deeply, and not intentionally fanning
the flames of a sore subject... Would someone mind explaining to some of
us (I cannot be the only one) newer players WHY? I merely ask out of
curiosity (and knowing what that did to the cat, I cringe just a little),
as, being a scholar, a circlet of any kind just wouldn't look right with
the black coif and biretta.

Seumas.
