Oh, how soon people forget!

SIGH

There was a calendar done when Artemisia was a Principality, to
celebrate 25 years of the Society, and each
months art was auctioned off at an event in Loch Salann (Solstice, I
believe). During dinner, the auctioneer sold
off the artistic rights for the months, as well as the centerfold, to
whoever could come up with the monies. This was
done to raise the production funds needed before the actual calendar
could be printed. Mostly groups did the
months - Bronzehelm was able to purchase May, which is of course the
beginning of the calendar - but I do
seem to recall that at least one large household bid on and won the
artwork for a month.

When the calendar was published, it was very well received. Sadly, my
personal copy was lost many moons ago,
but I am the custodian of the artwork that was done for May. The
PaddleBeastie of legend being slain in a swamp
in front of a butte by the great helmed knight Bronzehelm, with the
banner above saying 'Bronzehelm Invictus' and
the banner below saying 'Semper Incipientum'. We had been nine years
incipient at that point.
