Redhawk,

Thank you for letting us know how Master Pawel's send-off went. You and the
shire served both Pawel and the SCA well.

My thanks to you the other shire members,

YIS,

Alan

Subject: [Artemisia] baron master pawels service.

Today, the Shire of Stan Wyrm laid to rest our beloved friend and teacher.
Several of you folks could not attend so this is a lame attempt to describe
the service so everybody may feel like they were included.
Pawel was dressed in some of the nicest garb I have ever seen him in. He
had his coronet on, and his right hand was on the hilt of a sword. HL Wulf
did a write up and placed it by the guest book explaining why Pawel was
dress as his was. The modern folks were sort of wondering about that. At
rosary, many of us stood up and told stories or expressed how much his
teaching meant to all of us. Many tears were shed as we 'tried' to explain
what he had done for us all in the SCA. When I tried to explain why he was
a Pelican and all the times he was elbow deep in a toliet at events (usauly
the womens bathroom) was when I lost it. I am not sure anyone understood a
word I said as I tried to explain what a Pelican was, and the service Baron
Master Pawel was to the SCA and to Stan Wyrm. Master Pawel has two cousins
who are Priests, and they assisted Father Ray in the Service. So Master
Pawel had 3 Priests facilitating his service. I had organized an honor
guard for Pawel.
Both Wulf and I pulled out our Black Wing tabards, dressed in our rapier
gear. Lord Cormac arrived in his wonderful leather black garb, with his
furs of course. Lord Max dressed in his heavy armor to represent the heavy
combatants. The four of us did a sword arc as Pawel was removed from the
hearse at Blessed Sacrament Church. We were also given the honor of
reserved seating and sat behind the pall barriers. At grave side, the four
of us once again did the sword arc as Pawel was being taken to his final
resting spot, next to both his parents. HL Wulf commanded the guard.
I wish to thank all those Stan Wyrm members that took time from their jobs
and those who got off work very late last night and had to get up early this
morning to attend Pawel's service. Their self scarifies showed true spirt
of standing together in our time of need. Many members work until midnight
or 2 in the morning and had to get up very early this morning to attend the
service. Many gave up a day's pay to attend. Today was about Pawel and
nothing else. Those people will never be forgotten. Those members of our
Shire that attended will forever be in my heart as we stood together, showed
Lady Therese our support, as we said our final good-byes to our fallen
brother and teacher.
Until we met again Master, Until we met again.
Lady Redhawk
