Hello, all:
Bill and I watched the two hour Trading Spouses with horrified fascination.
It seemed to me that there was a certain amount of inflexibility on both
sides. No one was really interested in learning anything or trying anything
new.

The supposed "knight" didn't seem to consider that his surrogate "wife" was
actually a guest in his house.

His surrogate "wife," on the other hand, did the only productive thing that
happened in the whole scenario, when she took the medical-student wannabe to
meet the actual doctor and gave him a reality check.

The equestrienne wife should have realized that someone who would complain
about a paper napkin would never survive Medieval Times. And her "husband"
did try to show her a good time, even though he was really showing off.

The equestrian family did not appear to be SCA (and their costumes were
sad;) however I can see this sort of scenario playing out on the show that
was trying to recruit our people. Hopefully anyone who might be considering
participating will consider this before they agree. It was pretty unpleasant
all around.

Two pence more
Caryn
