Niccolo: "You say you lack expertise to teach, but your posts say otherwise.
I like to say that the word for someone who knows even slightly more than
the person next to her is "teacher." And it seems that you know more than
slightly more than the people next to you."

Niccolo has discovered my secret!

Still, though, if I were to find people who were interested in learning what
I have to teach, I would be able to show them what I know, but wouldn't know
enough to be able to answer their questions. And finding people who are
interested, in my experience that's a long shot, hence my hesitation. Most
people run screaming in the opposite direction from mathematics, or else
back away slowly to avoid angering the mathematics, then run when they've
achieved a safe distance. :)

I too am interested in navigation, although I couldn't sail a boat to save
my life. Somewhere in the piles of books my children overturn regularly, I
have a (modern) book showing how to make your own navigational instruments
out of common materials. Maybe we should get together and lend each other
books. I would love to read an original work by Cardano.
