If you enjoyed the Dies the Fire series, his other books are great too. His first foray into the Alien Space Bat event was actually a series called...Island in the Seas of Time. It is the tale of Nantucket Island and it having been thrown back in time to 1250 BC, in conjunction with the same event that affected the modern world.
