[Artemisia] cooling idea

Many years ago, one of my troopers tried the idea below at a desperately hot An-Tir/West War. Unfortunately, he was NOT wearing a stainless steel breastplate, but rather the minimally armored 'Bathrobe with plates' in vogue then. While on a rolling flank, he got into a brief, fierce greatsword duel to buy the rest of the unit time. His opponent did a beautiful pass, and body cut,  there was a muffled *pop*, and frantic cries of "HOLD" as something began leaking from his surcoate.

I ran over to check on him, and was relieved to find nothing seriously wrong. He then grinned and said "Look, Unka Haak! Blue blood! Either I really AM noble, or I'm a smurf!".

It was moments like that that led me to remark quite often in our encampment: "In a past life, I was obviously a poison mushroom that took the life of a very, very, very holy man ..."

(snip)

In the past I have tucked frozen freezer packs (the flexible kind)
underneath my breastplate and on top of my armour padding. Right over my
solar plexus. That delicious cooling sensation gradually seeped into my
body core without being shocking and unpleasant. Lasted for a half-hour,
45 minutes or so. Once left a small amount of frost forming on the
outside of my stainless breastplate on a hot day. Startled a couple of
marshals, at least until I explained.

(When it is *on top* of the armour padding it keeps you from getting
 frostbite)

 don't wanna do it again...
