[Artemisia] Period Norman Garb- Black?

Ah, Your Majesty, this could be because the weft is one color and the warp 
is another - often referred to as "shot silk"  - even when 'tis not silk. 
So, depending on how the light strikes the surface depends on which color 
you see (as you stated).
