You must also take into consideration the time/space continuim, because 
socks will inevidably reappear in locations that you have already looked. 
Therefore they translocate through time and space knowing that you have 
already looked in that location.
This is part of their evil plan to drive us insane.
Granted it is a very short trip anyway for a large portion of us.
