... a camping event July 11-13 in the Sawtooth Mountains, Fairfield
District... north of Mountain Home.

For those of you who love the Best Little Army scenario, this format
will be used for the Defend the Oasis tournament. Each army has 3
components, an archer, an equestrian and a fighter. Both armies enter
the field each component to their corner. At the signal of the archer
marshal, both archers loose 6 arrows. Fastest archer earns an extra
point. Equestrians watch for the signal then race through their course.
Fastest equestrian earns an extra point. Fighters will finish the
battle. The sooner the fight is finished the more points acquired; the
longer it takes, points are deducted. Best score wins. Armies will be
formed on site. List will open mid-day Saturday.

In order to feed one's self while on caravan, one needed to know about
hunting. The A&S competition allows everyone to show their findings on
persona development as a hunter/huntress with minimal research effort.
Information on the personal challenge and judging criteria can be found
on this website www.huntguild.org

1) Novice Hunter - Everyone can enter at this level. Show an interest in
developing a hunter persona: Candidate must develop an authentic persona
based on historical research for any pre-17th persona. Information
provided must include, full name, date and place of birth, present age,
current residence and a brief personal history. All candidates are
required to provide a bibliography of books and articles used to
research the various aspects of their personas.

2) Varlet de Vénerie - Entry-level Hunter/Huntress is judged by persona
creation, calligraphy, costuming/accoutrement, hunting equipment,
hunting skill.

3) Aide de Vénerie - Mid-level Hunter/Huntress is judged by adding to
the above Varlet requirements the following individual actions that
would further embellish one's persona: Technology, bardic, hunting
skills, everyday life.

4) Véneur - Highest level Hunter/Huntress is judged by adding more to
the above Aide requirement through a hunting demo and game preparation.

Also, there will be a feast of foods enjoyed by the cultures who lived
along the Silk Road. The reservation deadline is July 4th. Please see
the SAGE ADVICE for details on where to mail your reservations.

Everyone, have fun at the Uprising, and I see you a month later on the
Silk Road. :-)
