Don't we all?

I will have to read the book before I comment on Ulrich's motivation but as I understand it, Not unlike hunting in the Middle ages it was a lot more about the chase than it was the capture. From accounts that I have read on the book after his love intrest "finally" accepted him he lost interest and spurned her as well.

Again this is total conjecture as I am only reading people oppinions of the book not the book itself.
