Actually, that's typical at most events.  Generally court is not closed,
only recessed for people to go about their business.  If the thrones are set
up, the Crowns/Coronets are in attendance, then it is their court, just not
the (SCA-centric, not really period) part where people are being called up
to receive cookies.
