Dunkr is a member of the fleet of Óláfr "The White" Guðröðarson, decedent of Ragnar Lodbrok and the first King of the longphort of Dublin.  During his reign, Óláfr halted the annual raids on Ireland and converted his fleet over to Mercenary work (which proved quite lucrative, as Ireland was divided into multiple kingdoms, which were always at war).  During the short times when a truce was in place, the fleet would go back to raiding.
 
Óláfr was later joined by a Dane known as Ivarr the Boneless and they successfully ruled Dublin as co-regents for nearly 20 years.  Ivarr's sons established Jorvik (York) in England.
