On the nightstand:

_Homo Ludens_ -- Huizinga stretches at times, but I love his audacity.
Rather than play being an aspect of culture, Huizinga would claim
that our culture is a product of our play-nature.

_The Marescalco_ -- Not as well known as Aretino's other works, but
it should be. It's about a courtier who just wants to be allowed to
live his own life as he pleases. I like to see this play as
autobiographical. Aretino achieved wealth and respect, but managed to
avoid being tied to a patron. (Marescalco -- "horse-master" -- is a
court position. But it can also be translated as "captain.")

By the couch:

_Lies My Teacher Told Me_ -- Loewen covers what American history tends
to get wrong, how it happens and why it matters.

_Frazz, Live at Bryson Elementary_ -- hey, it can't all be highbrow.

Regards,
Niccolo
(who, along with Maryam, hopes to be camping with Artemisia this
War...since y'all are camping with Caid)
