Greetings Maire,
Good to hear from you! I hope you are well. I had the same issue, as I don't
own any rapier gear either...:) There are a couple of things you could try:

- Contact HL Donwenna directly (donwenna at gmail. Com - OMIT SPACES]), or join
the yahoo group she mentions (scaafghanistan at yahoogroups.com) in her
missive, and ask what you could order or purchase to be sent to them.
OR
- See if you can recruit someone in Artemisia to coordinate collecting and
shipping them rapier gear, and offer to contribute (maybe even collect
donations??) to defray the shipping charges.
OR
- Contact the two Atenveldters who are coordinating collection/ shipping of
rapier equipment in Atenveldt, and ask how you can send them a donation to
help defray shipping charges. To do that, send an email to Maitre Wallace
at quasimortal@ cox.net (OMIT SPACES) and THL Viola at violacarrara@
yahoo.com (OMIT SPACES).

At the end of this missive, I will repost the list of equipment that was
requested by HL Donwenna in June. Perhaps that will help as well.

My best,
Katerina

Subject: SCA Rapier Equipment Needed for Troops in Afghanistan

Greetings Your Grace from Donwenna,

I do so appreciate hearing from you!

Right now we have loaner gear to outfit two rapier fighters. They were
bought from Zen Warrior. the blades are swept hilt style parrying dagger and
swept hilt style rapier blades ( see picture in catalog
http://www.zenwarriorarmory.com/catalog.php?item=231&catid=71&ret=catalog.ph
p%3Fcategory%3D71) This will be leaving in just a couple of weeks. So my
experts determined that we will need two complete sets of gear as follows:

2 FENCING MASKS
2 GORGETS
2 Parrying Daggars Flexi/safe-flex
2 Schlager 30"-42" (any style)
2 Fencing jackets (preferable 42-44" chests)

Optional : 2 bucklers, anything else for parrying

We do not need gloves , groin protection, or female chest protection

We figure if we get several of 2 complete sets of things than we can outfit
several fighters for each practice at a time so we do not have to
continually change things.

I have a secure storage area and I have a Transition Plan set up for when we
will hand off the gear to the next set of Deployers. We all are overlapped
in our deployments ,so we will have good continuity . I will keep a hand in
to verify the transitions as they occur even if I am not here.

Please confirm my Shipping address and when you will ship so that I can
alert my Army Team to pick up bigger boxes for me.
