Once upon a time there was this German Shepard/Doberman Pinscher mix that was playing and knocked down a little 2 year old boy.  The dog when nuts and had a guilty pose to his body as he sniffed the boy to make sure he was ok.  Once the boy got up the dog and boy went back to playing.

Other instance is when two neighborhood kids came onto the property, the dog was unleashed at the time, playing with the his owner's kids and growled at the neighborhood kids (knowing these kids were not welcomed on the property).  The neighborhood kids taunted the owner's kids and the dog.  The dog did not hesitate to start after the neighborhood kids.  He was meaning to and would have attacked the neighborhood kids.

Now to me this big dog was my best friend.  Would never harm us, but to those neighborhood kids he was the meanest dog on the block.

Who's point of view are you to look at?  I have been on the both ends of the issue.  Dogs are just like we are.. protective of what they "own".  Within the pack the animal is nice, friendly and knows it's place.  outside of that it's protective upon itself or the other members of the pack (doesn't matter if you're not a dog, the dog conciders you part of it's pack, it's family).  Big or little, dogs teeth can cause damage.

I would really like to see what would happen if I were to let a pony loose at an event... it's just a pony... a small pony... i could find one the size of a large dog.  same concept... let's not let the mentality of it's cute that it cannot harm.  Roses are pretty too, but they have thorns.
