[Artemisia] pets at events

My cats have actually done the same (sort of thing) for me, Morgan, so I
understand that level of sadness, and that level of commitment and love and
thankfulness. But I'm not such a special snowflake, ever, that I need them
with me 24/7.....And that's the absurdity I was referring to. Thank you for
giving me the opportunity to clarify.

No, it really isn't. Even though I have not asked my doctor to prescribe a
companion/therapy dog for me, my dog has, on three separate ocassions,
stopped me from swallowing all of my meds at once so that I don't have to
fight with the SSA anymore, simply by standing on my lap, front paws on my
chest, and looking me in the eye. That is one of the primary purposes of
companion and therapy dogs/pets for disabled people- someone (my Cardhu is
NOT a "something") who loves us no matter what, and depends on us to take
care of them. When you hit rock bottom, that little tilt of the head and
lick on the cheek can make the difference between holding on for one more
day or giving up entirely. Being one not-very-large step above rock bottom,
I can say that from experience.
