Take a look at patterns of fashion 3 (POF), janet arnold...  (pgs 40-41, 102-104)

She was actually buried in the clothes, hence the idea of funeral clothing.  Since there were no actual markings for the body it is to believed to be Eleanora. (per Arnold).  If you look at pictures 284 and 285, of POF3, it is of a similar cut.   You could go either way with the underpinnings.  There is one portrait
of one of Maria de'Medici that has a similar design, but wore
petticoats.

Thanks, Malkin, for the pictures.. they're beautiful.  Since POF3 is all in black/white, it's nice to see the actual piece.

The new Simplcity pattern for underpinnings that is available in stores (I should say as of now, due to the big manufacturers get rid of the good stuff), but it IS accurate (per the pattern in Alcega's book), though you may have to size down and alter slightly.  But the design is exact, which was surprising to find.

Take a look at Mistress Bianca's laurel dress.  It is also of a similar design.

Chica, if you have other questions about it, let me know.. I can direct you to a group who will smother you with ideas. *yes.. evil we be*
