[Artemisia] Applique' question

Hello everyone.

I have a question for the sewing gods/goddesses out there.

Is it better to applique' the pieces on to the fabric before or after the
outfit (in this case a coat) is constructed?   Should I just start applying
the pieces now before I cut the pattern out, or put them on each individual
pattern piece; or ????

Ideas, recommendations (questions?) are welcome.
