[Artemisia] Uprising Site Things

I've set up a tent or two in my time, and understand the complications. They can be overcome easily enough, and the grass just isn't that long.

I explained about putting the cows/horses in prior to Uprising in a prior letter.

If you recall, last year the grass was cut, and left down. We had to move it...by hand, during the early part of the event. Then following Uprising last year, it took me and several helper FIVE FREAKING DAYS to pick up the grass and get it off the fields, by hand, with pitchforks. WAY too medieval for my taste.

The reality is that you can't just cut it and leave it lie. There are a number of complications that I won't bore you with. You can look me up at Uprising and I'll explain them in great detail.

Thanks for your understanding,

Alan

I agree with Baroness Elizabeth. As a merchant, it is very difficult to put up
tents and basically walk around until it is all trodden down. I realize the
weather makes for bad harvest, but if is going to be damaged and unusable
anyway, why not cut it down and dispose of it in some way? Here's an idea: Let
the cows and horses in to munch it down before we get there!

I don't understand, does this mean we should add Weed Wackers to our Packing
lists? or don't bother because you don't want the grass cut at all? Long grass
can be a considerable obstical when camping, espetially when you have allergies,
which a great many of us do. It is also a real hassle if it rains, even a
little bit because dress hems will quickly be sodden several inches higher then
the highth of the grass. This can make for some very miserable walking.

I don't mind bringing something to take care of my portion of the grass and
helping out with the sight, but you have made it sound like we may have to just
deal with long grass. I would like to know how long it is, because it was
outragious the first year and I don't know what we would have done had we not
had a few forethinking people who brought tools to cut it.
