Just one question regarding the prohibition of fire. Does this include charcoal in above-ground firepits? My Lady would like to know...

Subject: [Artemisia] Information about Crown

ome of the information following is a repeat of older posts, but there is new
nformation in this post, and I want to ensure that all the necessary
nformation is available to those that need it. Please cross post to other
ists.
The site opens at 2pm on Friday, September 30th. Please do not arrive early as
he front gate will be locked and you will not be allowed in.
The site closes at Noon on Sunday, October 2nd. Please be off site by this time.
Tentative schedule for Crown on Saturday, October 1st:
(Subject to Their Majesties whim or unforeseen circumstances)
10am: Opening court and presentation of combatants.
11am-ish: Tournament of Roses and Kingdom Youth Combat Tournament.
Noon: Kingdom Fundraiser lunch.
1pm: Crown Tournament.
4pm: Peer Circles.
6pm: Feast with Kingdom Bard Competition held during feast.
After Feast will be Evening Court.
After Evening Court there *MIGHT* be a dance, details are still being hammered
ut on this one. This is mainly depending on how late it is and if anyone is
illing to lead the dances.
The Tournament of Roses will be open to both Rapier and Heavy fighters, with 3
ategories that all will compete in: Most chivalric, best death, and best
resentation of the rose. Her Majesty will be deciding the winners of these
hree categories, however since she will not be able to personally watch each
ndividual fight, nominations by the populace for each category will be strongly
ncouraged.
No animals are allowed, service animals will be allowed only with prior approval
rom the Event Steward.
Merchants are welcome and encouraged to attend, and can coordinate space by
ontacting the Event Steward.
Site Fee: $8 per person, +$5 non-member fee. $5 for children ages 6 to 15,
hildren 5 and under are free.
The Site is Wet.
Saturday evening Feast: $7 per person. There will be a cap of 60 people allowed
o take part in the Saturday evening feast. Dinner menu: Cheese dip & bruschetta
ith bread slices for appetizer, main course will be roast chicken, couscous,
weet potatoes, and wilted spinach salad. Reservations can be made by contacting
ur Baronial Reeve Lady Helen Might de Gunthorpe (Sarah Eveland) at (208)
35-4273. Space is very limited, as many have already made reservations. Bring
our feast gear!
Kingdom Fundraiser: A luncheon will be available at the site on Saturday for $4
er person. Chili, chicken noodle, sausage potato soup, and bread will comprise
he menu.
Site name and location: Mink Creek Group Site Campground, Caribou-Targhee
ational Forest, Idaho, located 12 miles south of Pocatello, Idaho. The road to
he campground is paved.
Directions to Site: Take exit 63 off I-15, south of Pocatello. Follow the white
n brown "Mink Creek Recreation Area" signs to Bannock Highway (Two miles), turn
outh (left) up Mink Creek Canyon. Go 7 miles south on Bannock highway (past
annock Guard Station) to Mink Creek Group Site Campground. There will be signs.
map can be found here: http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/map_of_Mink_Creek_Group_Site_Campgrou_Id/r/generateBrowseMap.do?topTabIndex=CampgroundMap&map=PARK&parkId=73920&contractCode=NRSO
Google maps will lead you to the site by entering the address "3248 S Mink Creek
d, Pocatello, ID 83204" in the "Get Directions" option of that website. It is
est if you pretend you are coming from the North or South (such as Salt Lake or
daho Falls) since Google Maps likes to try and route people from the West (such
s Boise and Twin Falls) through Pocatello, which is NOT the best route. The
est route is to stick to the freeway as much as possible until exiting at exit
3 off I-15. After leaving the freeway when driving to the site, keep an eye out
or brown signs with white lettering indicating "Mink Creek Recreation Area."
ollowing these signs will lead you directly to the site.
Cellphone service is limited. I can't say what company will have coverage and
hich will not, but assume you won't have coverage and plan accordingly.
owever, you don't have to drive very far back toward Pocatello before you get
overage again.
While the days will be very pleasant, (forecasts indicate a high of the mid-70s
nd partly cloudy) the temperature will drop significantly at night. (Weather
ervice estimates the 40s) Please pack accordingly.
There will be a firepit, which we will use both Friday and Saturday night. If
ou have firewood available for the firepit, PLEASE feel free to bring it, but
e prepared to haul your firewood home if it is not used. This firepit will be
he ONLY fire allowed on site.
There are deer and other animals around the area, please be careful when driving
round the site area at night, as these deer will occasionally be in the road.
There are many picnic tables at the site, but otherwise seating is very limited.
lease bring camp chairs.
Camping is available on site. People not wishing to camp may contact our
arony's Chatelaine for crash space assistance; Lady Kyri of Lyonsmarche (Kara
ee Olson) at: (208) 535-2927, or I have requested group rates from a variety of
otels in the area. Please CALL AHEAD FOR RESERVATIONS and please be sure to
ention that you are requesting a group rate with the SCA. You might need to say
Society for Creative Anachronism" to be safe.
