Greetings from Your Estrella War XXVIII Site Coordinator!

Estrella War rapidly approaches! As it takes many hands to make sure that
the site is ready when that first attendee walks through the front gate, I
am in need of volunteers for Early On set up. We will begin set up on
Friday, March 23rd. There will be NO CAMPING allowed for set up crews
until Monday night, March 26th. Volunteers are needed for everything from
Battlefield set up to Road layout. This is a great opportunity to see the
new site transform into the medieval world we all love. Deadline to be
approved for Early On volunteering is March 17, 2012. You must be
Pre-registered for war to get on site early. For more information and/or
to obtain the proper Early On form, please contact me at site2012 @
estrellawar . org.

Dear Estrella War Attendees,
It has long been our pleasure to offer a Period Demonstration Center
for members and non-members alike to come and learn more about the time
frame we all enjoy re-enacting. However, due to a family emergency and low
volunteerism for the center overall, we regret to inform you that this year
we will be unable to host a Period Demonstration Center.
For camps who are interested in helping out with the education of our
School Tours by allowing them to stop by on their walking tour on Thursday
and Friday of the event, please contact the School Tours Coordinator Lady
Roweena at wndflr at live.com . We need just a few encampments who are
willing to show the children what our society is all about!!!
If you are interested in trying to coordinate a Period Demo Center for
next year's Estrella War, please contact the Main Coordinator Lady Rowan at
mains2012 at estrellawar.org and we will work together to bring this valuable
and wonderful tradition back to our event.

Thank you all for your understanding.

Sincerely,
Lady Rowan Bridget Blackmoor
Estrella War Main Coordinator

Are you looking for a way to volunteer a few hours at Estrella War this
year? Well here is an opportunity that many may not be aware of: School
Tours
School Tours this year are happening on both Thursday and Friday mornings
from 9:00 - 12:00, they begin every 1/2 hour, and after the Welcome should
take about 1 1/2 hours (no longer). That means the last Tour should be over
by 2:00pm.
It involves walking for the length of the Tour (through Period Demo Center,
Period encampment, by the battlefields, then leaving them at Merchant's
Row), talking about the SCA, and answering general questions, to a mixed
group of children and adults. I plan to have maps for all guides again this
year.
Please respond off list to: wndflr at live.com or the volunteer coordinator
Lady Lorelei Svandauther at volunteers at estrellawar.org
Please cross post this
Thanks
Rowena of Cornwall

*Come support our fighters on both the Hardsuit and Rapier fields!*

*Volunteers:*

- Any able bodied volunteers of 16 years of age or older. Younger
volunteers *cannot* be allowed onto the field to help with the water
bearing unless accompanied by their adult(s). However, any persistent
younger help can and will be put to work in the field support tents as
suppliers for the field walkers.

Volunteering here does not require you to stay the whole time. However any
time you put in will be welcomed by the Field Support Coordinator and the
fighters!

 - *Thursday* is mostly a tournament day and does not require many
volunteers in the morning. However, there will be Rapier fighting that
afternoon. Also, any volunteers that day will be gladly put to work and
the help appreciated (especially in the afternoon).

Daily requirements: Morning volunteers - min. 2 people, time: 10am to
Noon. Afternoon volunteers – 4 or more people, time – Noon to 4pm

- *Friday *will need any and all volunteers available (meeting age
requirements)! Time: 10am to 5pm. However, there is not a set cut off
time for fighting (this day tends to run late). There will be both
Hardsuit and Rapier scenarios going on and any helping hands are welcome.

- *Saturday* will need any and all volunteers available (meeting age
requirements)! Time: 10am to 5pm. Again, there is not a set cut off time
for fighting, please be flexible. There will be both Hardsuit and Rapier
scenarios going on and any helping hands are again welcome.

- *Sunday *will again be a call to any volunteers! Time: 10am to until
they give up! Also, any hands available for tear-down / clean-up will be
appreciated.

 *Donations: *

- Any donations of oranges, pickles and/or powdered Gatorade will be
appreciated. However, our fighters also love a bit of variety!

So if anyone would like to donate olives, summer sausage, jerky, pretzels,
and/or other lovely snacks that are still hydration minded; then I am sure
our fighters will appreciate your contributions!

*Remember! * A little bit goes a long way. So if you would like to help,
even one jar of olives will help!

- Any and all donations can either be delivered to Lady Amathea (the Field
Support Coordinator) at the House of the Dancing Goats (from Tir Ysgitir)
or at the field support tents located at the battlefields.

- If you would like to contact me for any reason or coordination, my email
is amathalewis at gmail.com. Please remember that I am on the set-up crew for
Estrella and will most likely *not* get a chance to check last minute
emails. Also if you prefer to talk instead, my phone number is
520-349-9726 (Please
no calls after 9pm). Calling is the best way to get a hold of me last
minute or while on site. I believe that I will also have a radio while on
site and can also be reached through that means.

**Thank you to any and all whom volunteer, you are what makes the war
happen.**

Greetings unto all!

An annual Artisan Showcase is held at Estrella War, to provide a setting
where artisans can sit with medieval style works they have completed or
have in progress, and discuss those pieces with SCA Peers and populace from
many SCA Kingdoms. The event is intended to invite questions, advice,
commentary and interaction between Peers, populace and artisans in a
relaxed, social environment.

All members of the populace are invited to participate, either as an
artisan showing pieces, or as someone who wishes to view the displays and
speak with artisans. Appropriate displays include all forms of Arts &
Sciences studied in the SCA, including (but not limited to) calligraphy and
illumination, furniture, heraldic display, garb and accessories, armor,
metalwork and casting, leatherwork, lace work, embroidery, beadwork,
ceramic arts, glasswork, cooking, brewing and medieval style performing
arts. Artisans who have documentation for their pieces are encouraged to
bring the documentation so it may be included in their display.

Artisans who wish to participate are encouraged to make reservations for
display table space by emailing the artisan showcase coordinator, Ijliyah
bint Rashid called Inara, at artisanshowcase at estrellawar.org prior to the
event. Each artisan may reserve either ¼, ½ or ¾ of a 6 foot table. While
table reservations are not required, making a reservation will ensure table
space is available for you when you arrive and extra space is allocated on
a 'first-come, first-served' basis. Artisans needing additional table space
may bring their own table, and extra chairs are always welcome!

At Estrella War XXVIII, the Artisan Showcase will be open for all members
of the populace on Sunday, April 1, 2012, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The
event will be held in the Grand Pavilion. Setup for artisans begins at 8:30
AM, and breakdown must be completed by 2:00 PM. Pre-registration is
currently underway and will close on February 29, 2012, or when we run out
of space!! If you have questions, email the artisan showcase coordinator.
Thanks so much and we look forward to seeing all the beautiful artisans'
works at WAR!
- Lady Ijliyah bint Rashid called Inara
