There's a book online (as part of the Postner Collection at Carnegy
Mellon) that is an overview of jewellry, written in 1908:

"View book pages" will allow you to page through the book.  It has a
number of color and b/w plates of jewellry that might be useful.

The Postner Collection is an interesting resource.  I first heard
about it when someone referenced a book on English Embroidered
