1 Oct Roman Imperial Womens garb workshop. The Highland Foorde Chapter
of the St Anne's Clothiers Guild is hosting a Roman Garb workshop on 1
October 2006 10:00 - 3:00 at my home (8604 Slate Hill Circle, Frederick,
MD 21704). We have space for 10 participants, but can also accommodate
auditors, so please RSVP soon. We will need your contact info, to
include e-mail address so Lady Iohanna may e-mail files and more
detailed instructions to you.
I will put on a pot of chili or soup, and have fresh baked bread,
cheese, and sodas. In the past, folks have asked if they could bring
munchies. Please feel free to bring something, but PLEASE do NOT feel
obligated!
Iohanna (Siobhan), Barony of Ponte Alto) will be teaching.
The class includes an overview of Women's Imperial Roman Clothing from
the skin out, construction methods, appropriate fibers and
embellishments. Those interested can then actually make a tunica. There
will be source materials (books) for men's clothing available for you to
look at.
Sewers should bring 4 yards of linen fabric with thread to match,
scissors, and 6 to 8 metal buttons no larger than a nickel. There will
be three sewing machines and a serger available, so you will not need to
bring a machine.
