Just a helpful FYI - Pearl Art on South st. in Philadelphia
has  basic tools like linen thread, needles, awls, etc. 
And a decent selection of papers, fabrics, and glues.  3rd
floor, on the left towards the back of the store. They also
have some gorgeous japanese fabrics and handmade papers. 
U.Arts has bookbinding classes, so they tend to keep
supplies in stock, or will order them for you.
