Worshipful Company of Stationers of the East Kingdom
Quarterly Report due 01 March 2007
reported by: Lyle FitzWilliam, Master of the Company

Reported to the Kingdom Minister of Arts & Sciences, Mistress
Danabren, and to the Company.

- East Kingdom 12th Night

At East Kingdom 12th Night the members of the EK Stationers
Company who were present at the event made a presentation in
court.
1. Some beautifully printed blank cards, with envelopes, by Ding
Li Ying Nu Shur.
2. Some 'eye charts' printed in Engravers Old English text by
Maitre Lyle fitzWilliam and Maistresse Elwynne Rowenna of
Wentworth. 2 each were given to TRM and TRH, and one to his
excellency Adhemar, Baron of Dragonship Haven.

- Promissory Scrolls:

There has been some talk of creating printed Promissory Scrolls
for those rare occasions when an award is to be given in Court,
but the scroll has not yet arrived. In the past, M. Iheronimus
has created these on a printing press, with hand illuminated
capitals, with the Royal Seal affixed. New promissories would be
done in a similar fashion, using a printing press and leaving a
blank space for the award type and name of the recipient.

- Scrolls

Several members have been working on award scrolls. Since
illuminated texts are also under the purview of the Company, I
mention it here.

- Papermaking

One of the members in Ruantallan, Griet, has been making linen
rag paper, as well as drawing, painting, and block printing.
This is in preparation to making various decks of playing cards
in various suit types.

- Ink making

Another member in the Bhakhail area, Robert Fairfax, has been
working on the preparation of iron gall and walnut hull ink, and
is waiting for ?the geese hereabouts to start shedding feathers.
Lots of pens!?

- Bookbinding

Ding Li Ying has committed herself to teaching a few workshops at
her friend's elementary/high school, including a class on
bookbinding (leather bound limp binding).

Ding Li Ying has also bound a few books with a Japanese stab
binding ? she had a few students and friends paint flowers (12 -
one for each month) and then made color copies. She bound the
original and gifted it to the Princess and then made a copy of
each person that participated in the project.

Lyle has bound several limp bindings with reinforced spines,
including two used for peerage vigils (which he dearly wished
that he didn't need to part with).

Lyle was scheduled to teach a class on a limp binding with
reinforced spine in early March (covered in next report).

- Block printing

As mentioned above, Griet has been working with block printing.
Ding Li Ying has also been working with block printing (Indian
textile blocks) that she has used on paper (several examples of
which included in the gift to the Royalty on 12th Night), and
hopes to get around to putting to linen soon.

- Awards

Livia Petralia received her Award of Arms at Noisemakers/Bardic
Championships, in part due to her hard work and dedication in
promoting bookbinding and book arts in the area of Ivyeinrust and
Bhakail -- which effort was specifically commended in court.

Regards,
Lyle FitzWilliam
Master of the Company
