This came across on the ALA Council list and I thought I would share it.

What is it about this administration and libraries?

Freinds and Colleagues,

There is more alarming news coming out of the Federal government library
infrastructure.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could pass this on to the
ALACOUN-L list and have the leadership of ALA be made aware of this next
dismantling of a national library. Passing on to GODORT and FAFLRT would
also be appropriate.

It goes without saying that this would be a tremendous loss, perhaps
even greater than the loss of the EPA Regional, HQ, and OPPT libraries
and the reductions to all other EPA libraries.

Looks like the ALA Federal Libraries subcommittee of the Committee on
Legislation, the ALA Washington Office and the the ALA Council.

I think it incumbent on the appropriate ALA Round Tables, sections, and
divisions to work on a resolution to this issue and that ALA be prepared
to issue a press release immediately upon successful passage of a strong
resolution in opposition to these measures.
