I'm resending this. For some reason I have trouble getting my mail
software to reply to the list -- it replies to the original sender
instead. <br>

It's not bad for a one page summary, but I can almost guarantee that
someone will have to cite something of a type that doesn't appear in
the list (how about an unpublished paper or talk presented at a
conference?). And while the guidelines state how to set up the
bibliography, they say nothing about how to handle citations in the
text (footnotes, endnotes, or author/year, e.g.). I very much prefer
the use of an established format like Chicago, Turabian, MLA, or APA
styles, all of which are relatively accessible and can be found in some
detail in various locations on the Internet.<br>

I will add that Solveig's comments on expecting the corporate offices
to keep track of authors are right on the money. Authors should give
current, accurate contact information that may eventually expire, just
like the author contact information included with formal scholarly
papers. I write and publish scholarly papers with some regularity, and
have served on more than one occasion as a guest editor for a major
journal, and can say with some authority that it's easiest all around
to work with a clear, detailed, and explicit format/style.<br>

I personally think this means that sources should be divided into major
sources and then further reading sources that are available through the
publications office or from the author via e-mail? <br>

As librarians, if someone brings a TI article and wants the source
material, what do we need to see to put that book or article in that <br>
patron's hands? <br>

By the way MS Word counts a website as one word no matter how long or
how many words it contains. <br>

Do you think the SCA Librarians would be up for a quick round of hot
debate? I have a "TI Bibliography Format" sheet ready, and I would love
to get comments on it as long as ONE person would be able to
moderate/distill the comments (I have so many e-mails now that I have
to sort by sender to find anything!). <br>
<br>
If anyone is willing to review it, here are my notes: It is close to
MLA with the exception of underlining being converted to italics, and
other typographical preferences. I did delete one item on the web-page
listing (date reviewed) because TI has such a long life span (and
articles can be in the files for years before being published) that the
point is moot. The creation date should be enough. Also, if the
abbreviations section needs to be amplified, please let me know. <br>
