Greetings!
To be more precise, Mistress Theresia,
MY Protege, Tanglwyst de Holloway,
was elevated to the Right and Noble Order
of the Pelican, and some other folk
(I think they are sisters) were also admitted
to the Orders of the Pelican and Laurel.
We pay attention to what is important to us,
don't we?
For my part, I as involved in a plot, as well.
In order to suitably surprise HL Tanglwyst,
she was told she would be making an announcement
in court regarding the dance classes for later that day.
This, to ensure she was indeed in Court in the morning.
I was called up first, supposedly to make it known that
I would not be able to help out much heraldically at
Kingdom-level for about the next three years because
of my pending duties as Laurel Sovereign (true statement,
but not the reason to have me called forward). After making
the announcement, I said that I had a little bit of business
to clear up, and asked His Majesties permission to have
HL Tanglwyst come forward. When she did, I demanded
an item of mine that she had on her person back, which
demand she tried to deny. Fortunately, she was willing to
listen to His Majesty when he told her to return her protege's
belt to me, or it could have been ugly! :-)
After retrieving the belt, I turned her over to His Majesty, at
which time the traditional asking ceremony was started. I don't
think it was until all the Pelicans present were asked to attend
Their Majesties that it truly sunk in what was going to be
happening. It was a wonderful look on her face, though!
There was Court held that evening, after she sat a day-long vigil,
and Mistress Tanglwyst de Holloway was presented to
the populace at the end of that Court. Countess Caryn, to whom
Tanglwyst is apprenticed still, read the scroll which she is
still working on (she only had two weeks to work on it, and
any scribe will tell you that a Peerage scroll takes longer
than that!). What was shown as the work-in-progress is
magnificent.
Also recognized were Yin Mei Li and Aurore de Flandres,
two Heralds who reside in the Barony of One Thousand
Eyes and have worked hard for years in their chosen field.
Both good ladies were given Golden Suns in Splendour
for their tireless efforts for their Barony and the Kingdom.
There were other awards, as well, but I will let someone who
has the Court Reporting Form (HL Aurore, for one) detail
anything else of significance.

Laurel Designate
