MEDIEVAL IRON CHEF COMPETITION
August 14, 2004 Salt Lake City, UtahThe Barony of Loch Salann
Medieval Iron Chef is celebrating its third year in our Kingdom, as the event has grown, it comes time for the event to become a traveling event through out the Kingdom. Knowing that next year Iron Chef will be moved to the illustrious Barony of 1000 Eyes, Our Noble Baron and Beloved Baroness have sent a final call throughout their land and beyond to locate the best chefs, cooks, and kitchen magicians that their people may be well fed during the coming year. Therefore, on the second Saturday in August, shall this grand competition be held. Teams of medieval style chefs are invited to show their talents on that date for the privilege of being acknowledged as the Medieval Iron Chef Champions of A.S. XXXIX.
Teams may consist of 2-6 persons, do not have to be members of the Barony, and must be pre-registered with the autocrat prior to August 7, 2004. Each team must prepare a feast for at least 15 people, which must include at least a soup, a main dish, a vegetable or fruit side dish, and a sweet dish. Maximum number of dishes is seven. There will be a Secret Ingredient assigned the day of the event, use of that ingredient in multiple and creative ways will gain the team extra points. Teams are encouraged to choose team names and to wear something that identifies their team members. Teams must register on the day of the event between 8AM and 9AM to receive their secret ingredient and be assigned a proctor to insure all rules are followed. Teams will be escorted to their cooking locations by their proctor and must return with their completed feast by 5:30 PM that same day. After registration, each team will be allowed only one grocery run by one member during the entire day, although
said grocery run may include several stops
Due to site constraints, teams will prepare their feasts at member homes located near the site and will return with their feasts for display, judging, and consumption. Teams, which choose to, are encouraged to make arrangements for the cooking site of their choice. Those who need such can contact the autocrat for a list of available member homes as cooking sites. These will be available on a first come first gets it basis.
Judges will travel throughout the day to the various sites to judge the preparation and clean-up as the feasts are prepared. Populace members and Royalty are also invited to visit the various cooking sites during the day to see how a feast is prepared. However, populace members are cautioned to stay out of the way of the cooks, they have sharp knives and short tempers.
Full rules, judging sheets, and pre-registration forms are available at the Loch Salann Website http://www.lochsalann.org/ or by contacting the autocrat.
Site will open for the event at 4 PM with final judging commencing at 5:30 PM. Following judging there will be a general feast and a court to award prizes and announce the new Medieval Iron Chef Champions.

Follow the SCA signs through the courtyard and into the building, through to the actual site on the North East corner of the Columbus Center. Also, it is the height of summer and will be warm, there is only so much air conditioning can do. Please do not attempt to adjust the temperature in the hall, nor request the site management to do so. Instead, contact the autocrat directly.
