[Artemisia] SCA Court

I have been reading all the back-and-forth about what to, or not to, include
in court... and how to deal with the "leftovers" such as presentations &
unofficial recognitions with much interest (being a chronic herald).
One thing I have seen in the past, and really liked (and felt was a nice
more "period" addition) were those occassions where a set of
royalty/nobility had, in addition to the official courts, announced periods
of time when they would be "sitting in state" (I believe those were the
words, I could be wrong there). Often this included times during or around
a tournament or arts gathering, when those who were sitting the thrones had
it made known that this would be the appropriate time to bring gifts,
recommendations, suggestions, or just introduce yourself. This made the
pacing a little less pressured than during a formal court, and those on the
thrones could take the time they felt was appropriate for each person who
visited, without the entire populace assembled, potentially getting tired or
bored with conversations they can't really hear. It also seemed to provide
a time where newer players felt a little more comfortable approaching "Those
Important People" - when thry weren't looking "too busy", and Everyone
wasn't watching.

Just my 2 cents,
Aeschine
