I agree completely. Though it's a little scary to be called forward in court at your first event, it is also very memorable and helps you to feel more 'part of the crowd' and less like an observer.

 I DO think that our first
timers shoud continue to be welcomed in open Court, to really show their value to us all and the SCA as a whole. But a chance to present them less formally, one on one, would really be a nice opportunity to have.
