Greetings,

Before he was a Duke, Alan Youngforest use the title of Earl rather than
Count.

Laurellen de Brandyvine (sp) uses the title of Marquessa instead of
Countess.

I could have sworn the College of Heralds once published a list of alternate
titles and their SCA equivalents, but danged if I can find it today. It may
or may not have been official.
