The recorder class on Friday is free unless you want a book. The book
is "The Sweet Pipes Recorder Book" by Burakoff and Hettrick, book 1, for
soprano recorder, at a cost of $5.50, or the same book for alto recorder
if you are planning on playing an alto or sopranino. I have 4 copies of
the soprano book available for sale. You can purchase the book at music
stores such as Chesbros in Idaho Falls, or on line at Boulder Early
Music Shop http://www.bems.com
Bring a music stand and a chair if you have them.
Sweet Pipes publishes many recorder books, all with similar names. If
you want the book that I will use for the class make sure you get the
one that says "a method for adults and older beginners" by Burakoff and
Hettrick. You will also need a tenor, alto, soprano, or sopranino
recorder that can be tuned-that is, a recorder that comes apart in two
or three pieces. Plastic is fine, in fact, preferable for outdoor
settings IMHO. (A group of beginning recorders will be excruciating
enough without being out of tune.)
Alto or sopranino players need the alto book, tenor or soprano players
need the soprano book.
I will be able to do a better job teaching if I know who is coming
beforehand and what, if any, music background you have (hint, hint), so
let me know by e-mail (hodgemary at onewest.net)if you are interested in
this class.
I remain, your obedient servant,
Jehane de Saint Michael
I bear the arms "Per pale gules and argent a bordure indented sable."
