Artemisians! This is the first event in our kingdom's northern region to
host equestrian activities. The event staff and I are very excited as we
hope this event will be the official beginning of their equestrian
program. If you *ever* had a desire to try the equestrian games but found
the events too far away, then this is your chance to have fun and help
promote a new dimension to SCA play... take advantage of the opportunity.
I have found there are many horsemen/women in the modern world who are
burnt out with the same-ole riding styles and looking for something new
and different to do with their horses. Invite them to Phoenix-Rising to
take a look at what we do. Say "yes" if they ask to bring their horses,
as long as they can provide proof of negative Coggins blood test within a
2-yr period for Montana. All out-of-state horses must follow legal
interstate travel regulations... information available from their vets.
First time horsemen/women can attend the classes and practices without
membership. 

Here's the schedule:
Friday
10:30 am - Classes in mounted drill, sword and spear games... rider
authorizations will take place prior to the gaming. Plan on 2-3 hours.

Saturday
10:30 am - Warm-up mounts, class in lance games (tilting at rings and the
quintain). 
12:00 noon - Parade to the titlyard and join us for a Jousting Spectacle.
Everyone is welcome to process with us... hounds, kids, bagpipes, rapier
guard, banner guard... whatever looks good. Bring your picnic and
comforts, and let us entertain you.
12:30 pm - Jousting Spectacle... demonstrated by authorized SCA
equestrians only.

I will haul a few of my mounts for rental use. They are trained to the
games and will give you an honest ride. Each mount can be shared by two
riders.  Prearrangement for their use is a must to ensure availability,
i.e., I will not haul extra horses in hopes that someone will want to
rent them. Contact me privately for more information.
