[Artemisia] Being active locally

Hello,

I feel I need to reply to this, because I realized that while I *do* stand
by the thought that each person who plays in the SCA should be able to find
some way to help out, I realized that the initial post on this subject
pointed some fingers at specific individuals. In NO WAY did I intend my
comments to be 'specific' to any person. Each of us has different
commitments on our time, money, and energy. Each of us has different
priorities at different times in our lives. And each of us must decide what
we can and cannot do. If specific individuals were offended by my comments,
please know that was not my intent. They were meant in a much more general
way.

Also, attendance at meeting is not necessarily an accurate gage of the
service provided by any individual. There are many things that can be done
'behind the scenes' that can fit into most schedules. And I certainly agree
that I *want* to see people attending events and enjoying themselves. I
just wish that those that can would make that extra effort to see what needs
to be done 'at home'. Anyone who has played for a year or two knows that
when an event is in the works, there are things that need doing. If
attendance at planning meetings is not possible, call, email, ask the event
staff, or seneschal what needs to be done. Each small task that can be
'farmed out' either before or at events is one less thing that someone else
has to find time to do.

Ok, I'll get off the soapbox now. ;-)

In service -
Gefjon
