[Artemisia] We're the Society for Creative Anything

Here here! Well stated. If you want the Society to evolve it starts with
YOU. I constantly try and keep our younger/newer players on the right track
of "period correctness". Honestly we have a documentary out there hailing
Pirates as "large" group in the SCA. What country are Pirates from? And what
part of Chivalry and Honor do they subscribe to? I got into this game
because I was always interested in the Medieval Ages. I love Castles and
Knights and Tournaments and all the small details that make it a reality not
a dream. Lets get our mind set back to what brought us in in the first
place...The Medieval Ages! Whether this includes other continents during
this time is not for ME to decide. It is for our entire SCA populace to
decide and if that is the way the majority wants it so be it. Most of us
gather in groups that have like personnas and/or beliefs of what the SCA is
to them anyway. But a fantasy organization we are not. I see more and more
of at events and especially on Merchants Row. This is decidely deceptive to
the newbie when he sees a "Star Trek" style battle sword at a vendors booth
and cannot figure out why it doesn't go within the SCA. So what to do about
that?

Ely....who drinks beer and stays up late and talks loud and still manages to
be a worthwhile contributer to the dream of the SCA.

An Irishman is never drunk as long as he can still hold on to one blade of
grass and not fall off the face of the earth!
