Some texts actually say that Dr Usui "re-discovered" reiki and that it
existed in ancient history. Like much of undocumented history, it depends
on where you stand.
Thanks for the discussion and insight.

Reiki is the invention of Dr. Mikao Usui, who died in the 1890's. He drew
on many ancient traditions in his work, including ancient Tibetan healing
arts and Buddhist writings. Various types of energy healing were used
throughout our period, including chanting and symbols in Asia, and laying on
of hands in the Christian tradition. Reiki itself is a modern offshoot of
these traditional arts.
So no, there is no Reiki history during our period, except in the sense that
Reiki has it's origins in ancient healing arts. Reiki itself is a wonderful
thing, and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in alternative
healing modalities. I think it's wonderful that Talanesea is offering her
time and energy to help people learn to heal themselves and others, but it
would probably be more appropriate to do the attunements in someone's
personal camp area, rather than in an Estrella classroom.

Is there Reiki history during the span of time the SCA is in?
