Most tent makers will recommend the following: Don't Clean them. Scrubbing 
with soap and hard water can damage the fibers and remove waterproofing, and 
in some cases, fireproofing.
    However, in extreme cases (like this past Estrella) a quick rinse with 
hose to wash away standing dirt is about all I'll do.
   You should think of each stain as a souvenir of former glories endured.
