I just received an email from Master Aaron Swiftrunner, Society Seneschal,
that had a message that he wanted me to share with people. I'm copying this
both to the Seneschals' e-list as well as the Hall so that the word gets out
as broadly as possible. Please feel free to share with other lists.

Master Aaron has noted a trend {ok avalanche} of local interpersonal/group
problems being reported directly to him or to the Board directely by a
branch seneschal, local peer, well-meaning bystander or the Board.He is not
certain why the floodgates have opened, but feels that it may be worth
reminding folks that starting LOW on the food chain is always better than
jumping to the top. That would mean following these steps:

1. Go to your local Seneschal (or other officer depending on the
issue--herald for heraldry, marshal for martial stuff, MoAS for arts &
sciences stuff, Exchequer on money questions, etc., etc., and so forth--you
get the idea).
2. If they can't answer the question or you cannot get ahold of them
go up to the next level. Many of the offices have Regional deputies. Check
the Northwatch or the NS website for who it might be.
3. If there is no Regional deputy or you cannot get ahold of them the
next step is the Kingdom Great Officer. Again, information on how to contact
us is in the Northwatch and on the website.
4. There are two more step in Northshield if you feel that the Great
Officer is unapproachable or not answering you. One is the Althing
Deputy--currently that is Toki Magnusson and his info is, you guessed it, in
the Northwatch and on the website. This is an (almost) anonymous conduit for
questions or problems. Only Toki will know who is asking the question and he
can advise on how best to proceed.
5. The other is the Ask-the-Stallari website, reached from the
Northshield website homepage. The Stallari has been responding to every
question as it comes in and posting the answers there.
6. If, after you've tried all these people and you still aren't
getting an answer (and I mean no answer at all, not just an answer that you
don't like), then you can consider going outside of the Kingdom to the
Society officer but please don't do that first.

Also, please remember that copying the ENTIRE food chain on the first irate
message is not USING the chain of command--it can be publicly embarrassing.
Think about it all before
