YA know there is a time and a place for about everything. Some of us are to impatient to wait for a lot of things (YES!!! this includes me).
People will come to the conclusion to pay for a membership when they get to the point they want to be "MORE". Did we all start out with our very first event with a blue card in hand? How many member and even non-members bring out their friends to this odd thing we like to do on the weekends? What about the people that belong to LARPs that are looking into something more profound?
We all started somewhere, we need to allow others the same. We have all gotten to some point where if we're going to events and fighter practices frequently we somehow manage to pay for a membership. Then there are those times where we may just make it to one particular event, due to "insert reason here". We don't need to be all pushy about the membership thing, just state the reasons you would need to have one. When a person wants to be "that guy" they will find means to pay.
There are even people I know that are willing to pay another's fees to make sure they're at events and can participate. Why can't there be more? How many people do you know that are willing enough to put their heart, soul and MANY hours of painstaking time to help out, but cannot afford certain things in thier lives, let alone memberships and site fees? Acceptions should be aloted, but yet established and stated. I have no problem making sure my cabin boy's membership, clothing and site fees come out of my poket. Why, because he's a good kid, but besides that he's helped out HOW many people? I have seen him take the smaller kids and keep them entertained at HOW many events? People that are so willing to help, but cannot afford the nice things others have, should be incouraged and helped out when we can be in the position to do so. I'm not saying put out our red carpet, but just be mindful of those that are very willing, but are under means of our own.
