Since we began this discussion of sweets … I have been wracking my brain cell to try to figure what to bring.  I have time to make some fruit pastes, and the season is just right for doing that.  Those I made for the desert auction last March were made from frozen fruit.  The resulting paste was too thin, which made them a little tough; more like fruit leather than fruit paste, which is why they were laid one over the other, rolled up and tied … couldn’t find any other way to make them pretty enough to offer.

I happen to know that Baron Richard, Her Highness' mate, is very fond of custard.
 
And ... I have a pretty good recipe for custard that I made for Otherhill Candlemas last.  It was served with smallcakes and (cooked) mixed berry sauce as a sort of build-at-the-table tart.    All I have to figure now is … transportation and storage until serving.
